Hey, I'm back! I'm sitting in a chair with a big bandage around my neck. My neck does not hurt, even though the incision had to be quite a bit larger that the projected 3". My biggest problem this morning is my shoulders. Both feel like they have ice picks sticking in them. I cannot lift my arms without a lot of pain. I'll have to ask the Doctor when he comes by around lunch why this is.
Evidently the nerve on left side did have to be removed during the surgery. The cancer was in the nerve and attached to my trachea. I have yet to talk to the Doctor myself after the surgery, but Dana says he thinks he got all the bad stuff out. The lymph nodes were also removed.
Turns out that the estimated 4-hour surgry took a little over 7-hours. I don't remember much after being put out, except little bits and pieces in recovery. I feel a lot better now that I am sitting in the chair. The bed is horrible. I'll make another post after we talk to Dr Hoffman around lunch.
Just to let you know, I'm probably not ready for any visitors. It's a strain to talk and there is a bid gap in the back of this gown that I have on. I will let you know when I'm feeling up to visits.
Thanks to everyone, especially Dana, for taking care of me.

Good morning Jeff!!!
Chuck and I both kept you on our computers yesterday and bout wore out the refresh button for updates. Dana was so good in letting everyone know when she learned something, but boy those last hours were long!!
She also called me last night to make sure I had all the latest update.
The pain in your shoulders and arms could be from being put to sleep but I would sure ask about it.
Glad the surgery part is over, now just let the healing begin and don't worry about the gown!!! Everyone should have to wear one at least once in their life!!!!
Love you bunches,
Aunt Bev
Good morning Jeff and Dana,
You all have been in our thoughts and prayers and will continue to be!
Mom finally figured out how to send me your blog page this morning....God love her!!! But she did a wonderful job keeping me posted yesterday! Stay strong and recover quickly!!!
We love and miss y'all,
Tony, Melissa, Morgan & Megan
Way to go Jeff...that's what we wanted to hear, you're up and in good spirit as always!
You have a lot of people at work praying and pulling for you...hang in there. We're all glad to hear from you and Dana. Get some rest and don't worry about the gown...just go commando style when roaming the hallways!
Take care,
Jose
Man put the compter down and rest up (I know you must be going flippin' sitting in the confined space). Great that your feeling up and about already. Congrats on the WIN and to Carson.
We'll be looking for you soon. Thinking about ya pal!
Jeff,
You sound really good for someone who just had a 7 hour surgery!
So sorry to hear you had to go through all this. Take care and be sure you wear a robe over your gown when you go for your hall walks!
Still praying,
Rhonda
Jeff it was great to go on your blog and read it was you sitting up typing. God answers prayers. Kim said your shoulders hurt because of the postion you were in during the operation. She also said that she would make your signs for you....And I think you should wear the gown at firstbase....take care and look forward to seeing you soon....Go Cardinals.
Darran and Kim
Jeff,
I know how disconcerting it can be to wear one of those gowns with no back. I have found that if you wear it backwards you will feel much more comfortable walking around in it and that people will treat you with respect.

Great to hear you are doing better. We will continue to pray for you and Dana. I am also lifting up the boys.
Also, i am having trouble understanding the whole gown issue....could you post a picture so we can see what you are talking about!!! Ha!
Get well soon!!
Jeff,
Glad to hear that you are doing so well. What a great idea this blog was. Dana did a great job in keeping us all up to date. Hopefully you will feel up to coming to the game on Monday, you can hold the signs an Tim will shout for you. GO CARDINALS!!
You are still in our prayers and wish you a steady and speedy recovery.
Tim, Cathy, JET and Matt
Jeff,
We are so glad that you (and Dana) made it through that "Long" surgery! (sorry for the pun) And, we're happy to hear that they removed the bad stuff.
Dana did a great job keeping us all up to date with this cool blogger! We were with you all the way. I hope they let you go home soon - but don't rush anything. We'll keep watching from the west side!
Leslie
