Saw Dr Hoffman this morning and had my staples removed. He said the incision looked great and I'm done with the bulk bandage. I see him again in 2-weeks and he's referred me to the Endocrinologist, who will regulate my thyroid medicine and administer the radioactive iodine therapy.
My voice was pretty bad today, so I had Dana call the Endocrinologist office. Their next appointment available was JULY 30! Dana explained the recent surgery and the urgency, but no budge on the date unless there is a cancellation - and we are down a ways on that list. Dana called Dr Hoffman's office to see if there was anything they could do to expedite this appointment. We have yet to hear back.
Several of you will remember that after Dr Hoffman discovered the problem with the vocal cords, the earliest I could get a CT Scan and Ultrasound were over 30-days from the discovery. Even when the cancer was discovered, the surgery date was over a month out. So, if we have had any notable HMO problems, it has been realistic appointment scheduling.
I am hoping Dr Hoffman will step in and take care of this. If not, they have not yet tangled with Dana Long. I am sure it will all work out.
I am still on track to return to work on June 4. Hope my voice improves a bit by then.

Jeff,
You've just got to write a book! If not the "great american novel" at least a book on being a daddy, a little league coach, encouraging youths, positive thinking, cancer surviving, something!! Maybe even a television series! Your blog is so interesting and inspiring, I find myself looking forward to the next report! I know without a doubt that it will contain wit and humor, encouragement, and positive thinking. You would make your professors proud!!
Not everyone could go through what you have been through and be so positive. It could make some bitter and angry. Your gift of enouragement has touched many lifes, it could touch even more if you wrote a book! (think about it!)
Still praying for you,
Rhonda
Uggh. All this waiting has been pretty frustrating. Good to hear you are getting some rest and eating some real food. I need to come check out the scar!

Jeff,
I have to agree with Rhonda! And don't forget to put in the diary that Dana kept when you went to Costa Rica!!! That was pretty dang cool!!
Melissa and Charlie keep asking me if I have talked to you. I told them no and I'm not going to until you are better. As long as I can see you are ok on the blog,,, that's more than enough for now.
I'm still getting emails from all over, people are asking about you and still praying.
If I know Dana,,, and I think I do when it comes to taking care of her family... those Dr's are in for something I don't think they really want a part of!!!
Take care and keep posting. Love you. Aunt Bev
Hello Big Brother,
I have been checking you blog daily on my blackberry while traveling... glad to hear you are feeling better and glad you are still posting. As mentioned, your post are not only informative... they make us all feel better with humor and positive thinking.
Just got back from a business trip (Houston) today at noon. Instead of going back to the office, Fara and I went to a Grasshopper game (minor league-Marlins) this afternoon. Thought you would like that!
Love you guys,
David
