Back to Work on Monday

I am still having problems with Kaiser and Metlife talking to each other. I contacted my HR via email to ask if my next paycheck would be affected - they did not know and were checking on it. Also, they reminded me that I needed a signed release from the doctor to return to work on Monday. Oh my goodness, what are the odds I can get this piece of paper before Monday? So I hit the phones this morning with Kaiser and begged/pleaded until I got someone to help. The release was created and signed this afternoon, but I have to pick it up in person (good old HIPAA). That's a 64-mile round trip to pick up this piece of paper. There was not enough time to squeeze the trip in this afternoon, so I am going to have to do it Monday morning before work.

I am going to use the on-site opportunity Monday morning at Kaiser to try to straighten out the disability claim. I have to travel to Minnesota the week of June 11 for work - and ironically, if I can't get this settled before that business trip, I may not get a paycheck. Huh?

So, by now, you may have guessed the worst part of this whole ordeal. No, it was not finding out that I had aggressive papillary cancer, or the invasive surgery to remove my thyroid and lymph nodes - it's been the stinking insurance companies and their paperwork!

I feel good and my voice is good until I overdo it. I will actually be glad to get back to work on Monday and to get ready for a busy month.

I know you will happy to get back to work. Glad to hear you are feeling better and look forward to seeing you and the family next weekend at the team party. I have missed our baseball talks. Hope your voice gets stronger so we can pick it back up.

Good Grief!!! Like the stress of the cancer and the surgery weren't enough, but now all this!!! I'm sure work will feel more like a vacation!
I was really glad to hear you are feeling good and the voice is better.
Hang in there, this too shall pass.
